THE SIX STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL EAP WITH INTERLOCK 1. Organisational commitment Before going ahead with an EAP, it is important to ensure management is committed to supporting and participating in the program. You will also need to identify other stakeholders whose support is important, e.g. trade union representatives and relevant team leaders. Ideally, you should designate a program coordinator with authority to oversee the program’s success. 2. Pre-Program Analysis A full understanding of your organisation’s operations, policies, procedures and culture is vital to the design of an appropriate program. We consult with your management and nominated employees to build a comprehensive picture of your organisation’s workplace. 3. Program design Interlock develops proposals for your program, taking into account all the information from the Pre-Program Analysis. The program design includes guidelines for launch, promotion, training and service delivery. 4. Training Interlock works with your organisation to train everyone in the benefits and operation of the EAP. This includes management training, employee briefings and union training. - Employee awareness briefings - A briefing for employees at the commencement of an EAP program of approximately 30 minutes duration is offered. During this information session, the full range of services avaliable to employees and their families are outlined. Also, as part of this, a question and answer segment is offered to aid understanding. An internet EAP induction presentation is avaliable for employees or for those based in remote areas.
- Manager awareness sessions - To equip managers with an understanding of the program, what counselling is and how to promote and/or refer staff to the program.
- Brochures, handouts and guides
- Employee induction - Brochures and other handout material can be supplied to HR or other nominated personnel for new employee induction processes as well as free to view online EAP presentation.
